Why PBE Global Was Founded

 

PBE Global was not created as a slogan, a pitch deck, or a fashionable start-up exercise. It began where Michael’s professional systems experience met a serious family need in Colombia and a clear conviction that practical invention could be turned toward problems that mattered.

 

The earliest designs were developed while Michael was working full-time in AV engineering. At that stage, the purpose was not to launch a company or create a public product line. The purpose was to help protect his chosen son in northern Colombia from environmental conditions that had made daily life at home increasingly difficult, unhealthy, and unsafe. Heat, humidity, insects, flooding pressure, limited resources, and the practical realities of rural construction all had to be addressed together rather than treated as separate problems.

 

From the beginning, the work had to be realistic. The systems could not depend on expensive equipment, fragile technology, or materials that would be difficult to source or maintain locally. The designs needed to allow for practical construction methods, reclaimed or locally available materials where appropriate, and budgets that could be funded responsibly while still producing meaningful improvements.

 

As the first designs moved from concept to field implementation, it became clear that the need was larger than one family. Michael’s chosen sons, his husband Tigre, trusted chosen family, and Colombian partners recognized that the same conditions affecting the Reyes residence near El Mamey were also affecting many other working-class families. The work became the first field expression of a broader platform for residential and small-community climate adaptation.

 

The first Safe Zone prototypes were supported through founder funding and a generous early investment from a close friend who believed in the mission. Those systems are now in active use at the family home in northern Colombia, where they have provided the first real-world foundation for PBE Global’s next stage of development. Reports from the family and from Mr. Jhon Restrepo, PBE Global’s trusted Colombian construction partner, have been strong enough to justify continued documentation, refinement, testing, and product planning.

 

PBE Global’s current work focuses on turning that field foundation into a responsible development path. Some systems have already been implemented in the field. Others have been developed through practical engineering principles, virtual testing, comparative design review, and disciplined documentation, but still require physical prototypes, validation, refinement, and cost analysis before broader claims can responsibly be made. That is why the company is seeking grants, seed grants, non-dilutive funding, and mission-aligned partnerships.

 

Michael continues to view PBE Global as a serious extension of the professional discipline his AV engineering career taught him. Continuing that career strengthens PBE Global by providing stability, practical perspective, and a disciplined source of support for work that still requires documentation, prototypes, testing, refinement, intellectual property protection, and responsible public development. That is not a contradiction. It is stewardship.

From Family Need to Field Prototype
 

The first Safe Zone work began with a question from one of my chosen sons in northern Colombia. He asked whether I knew of any practical way to protect his home from extreme heat, humidity, and insects. I did not hear that as a request for a single product. I heard it as a responsibility.
 

That response is central to who I am and to why this company exists. PBE Global is not detached from family, place, or obligation. It grew from the reality that people I love were living inside a problem that needed more than sympathy. They needed practical protection, and the available options were either inadequate, unaffordable, unsuitable for local conditions, or too fragile to trust.
 

The work in Colombia brought together my systems thinking, Wilmer’s engineering mind, the lived experience of our family, and the field judgment of Mr. Jhon Restrepo, a trusted Colombian general contractor, entrepreneur, local partner, and chosen family member. That partnership turned plans, observation, founder funding, and local construction knowledge into the first Safe Zone prototype near El Mamey, Sucre, Colombia.
 

Safe Zone began as family protection, but the field work revealed a broader need. Many working-class families face the same overlapping pressures: heat, humidity, insects, flooding, high utility costs, limited infrastructure, and uneven access to healthcare. Maryland, Colombia, and the Discipline of Translation

 

PBE Global operates with one foot in Maryland and one in Colombia. That cross-border reality is not incidental. It is part of the company’s strength.

 

Living in Maryland taught Michael certain building assumptions almost by instinct. Drafty windows, air leaks, poor seals, heat loss, humidity intrusion, summer cooling loss, and winter cold spots are not abstractions here. They are physical experiences anyone in this region can understand. A gap in a building envelope is not neutral. It changes the interior environment, raises costs, reduces comfort, and makes the home harder to control.

 

Colombia brought other truths into focus. In hot tropical conditions, people may understandably believe that a house must be left open so it can “breathe.” That assumption can make sense where cooler breezes help and insects are not overwhelming. However, in a hot, humid, insect-heavy environment, uncontrolled gaps can become pathways for mosquitoes, gnats, heat, humidity, dust, odors, and disease vectors. What appears to be ventilation can become exposure.

 

That is the kind of translation PBE Global must do well. The company cannot simply impose one climate’s assumptions on another. It must understand why local habits exist, identify where changing conditions have made those habits dangerous or incomplete, and design practical systems that respect both lived experience and engineering reality.

 

The Papa Bear Standard

 

The name Papa Bear Enterprises Global is personal, but it is not sentimental branding. It reflects a standard of responsibility. In Michael’s own life, “Papa Bear” became more than a nickname. It became a role he was asked to inhabit by chosen family, especially by young men who needed steadiness, protection, honesty, practical help, and serious guidance.

 

That standard shapes how the company operates. PBE Global does not treat vulnerable families as markets to be exploited. It does not treat field partners as interchangeable labor. It does not treat local knowledge as decoration. It does not use the language of innovation to excuse fragile, expensive, or unmaintainable systems. The work must be practical, respectful, documented, adaptable, and serious enough to serve real people under real conditions.

 

The Papa Bear standard is simple: protect the living core first, tell the truth about what has and has not been proven, respect the people inside the problem, and build systems worthy of their trust.

PBE Global is intentionally lean, but it is not casual. Its work draws on the human intellectual capital of Michael, his chosen family, and his Colombian business partner, Mr. Jhon Restrepo. Together, they bring systems thinking, field observation, construction judgment, technical discipline, bilingual communication, and direct knowledge of the conditions the company is working to address.

 

The company uses modern tools for drafting, translation, documentation, comparative review, and operational coordination, but final responsibility remains human. PBE Global’s standard is to trust, but verify: preserve records, document assumptions, review claims, and distinguish clearly between field implementation, engineering logic, virtual testing, and future work that still requires physical validation.

It is a founder-led company built from professional discipline, family responsibility, cross-border partnership, and the belief that practical climate adaptation must begin where people actually live. Michael’s goal is to build systems useful enough to outlive the crisis that produced them. That requires patience, documentation, partnerships, testing, funding, and restraint.
